JonBenet Ramsey and Mark Karr

Did Mark Karr kill JonBenet Ramsey?

No!

Mark Karr did not kill JonBenet. Why do I say that?

We know very little of the evidence in this case. But of what we know things don't match up:

  • Mark Karr said he drugged her. The autopsy indicated that she was not drugged.

  • The ransom note asked for the weird amount of $118,000. That is exactly the amount of money that John Ramsey received as a bonus. Only someone close to John would know that. John Ramsey said he didn't know Mark Karr.

  • Mark Karr's ex-wife said that Mark Karr was with her during the early morning that JonBenet was killed. They were both on the east coast.

  • Mark Karr said he picked her up at school that afternoon. There was no school. It was the XMAS vacation.
Although each one of the above points could have an logical explanation. For example, the correner could have lied about JonBenet being drugged; Mark could have found the bonus check in the house.

Is Mark's ex-wife protecting him? Mark Karr's ex-wife divorced him because of his interest in young children. She got a restraining order against him to protect her children. It doesn't make sense that she would protect him now.

Despite the obvious points above, the district attorney is going to charge Mark Karr. That doesn't make sense. There must be something else going on that we don't know. Did the DNA match?

Mark Karr is a very sick person but he did not kill JonBenet. Having said that I am open to be wrong. It will be very interesting to see why the DA is charging him.

Stay tuned, I know I will be...

The Bottle Bomber

First it was the "Shoe Bomber" and now we have the "Bottle Bomber".

Because Richard Reid tried to ignite his shoe on a plane (unsuccessfully thank god), millions of air travellers have to take off their shoes when clearing airport security.

Now, we have the "Bottle Bomber". Millions of travellers are going to be prevented from taking liquids, and gels onboard airplanes.

I am just wondering how this will impact me. The "Shoe Bomber" impact on my travel life was/is not insignificant. Removing shoes is a hassel to be sure. The lines move slower, its a hassel to take you shoes off and put them back on again. At least in the summer I have been travelling with flip flops.

I don't travel with liquids or gels. I usually check those items. However, I can imagine the delays this will create in the short run and the long run. In the short run, until people learn they can't bring their liquids and gels onboard an aircraft we will suffer delays. Just imagine Miss Channel fighting with the security folks when they try to throw her $200 of Channel No. 5 in the garbage. In the long run they are talking about scanning the liquids. They showed these scanner on T.V. today. I hope they never use these. It will take several minutes to scan each liquid/gel container.

Only time will tell what the fallout of the "Bottle Bomber" will be.

Here is a travel tip for you:

If you choose not to take off your shoes and have them xrayed, then the security folks will delay you. Its true. I was leaving Kansas City wearing my runners and elected not to take them off. They did not buzz going through the metal detector ( I know my shoes). However, the security guys decided to hand check my bags which is cool. But they put the bags off to the side and got to checking them a few long minutes afterwards -- a timeout of sorts.
Make a note to self: take them shoes off.

Can you hail me a cab?

Yummmm......

Just finished a nice meal at Montreal's Moishes Steak House. As we walked down the stairs onto the street we were greeted by a street bum, soaking wet from the falling rain. Hat in hand begging for money, Mark tosses him a dollar. I frown, don't you encourage him...

I step out into the street to hail a cab. Two pass by without stopping. The light turns red. I step back to take cover from the falling rain. The bum is still there hat in hand. "Can you spare some change?"

Go away!!!

From my porch protected from the rain, I scout the street for cabs, when I notice the bum standing on the road in the rain, hat in hand, the other raising his cane in the air.

Can you belive this?

Cab pulls to the side of the road. Rushing towards the cab, I reach into my pocket and toss the bum a couple of dollars. Kuntal does the same.

Now that's service!!!

Oh, the meal at Moishe's... I had the Rib steak. It was good and done to perfection (well almost, slightly burnt). Mark ordered a side of potato latkas. They were tough - not good. Mark sent them back to the kitchen. The second time around, they were a little better but still not upto our expectation. Back they went, this time for good.

Pickles and Slaw were exceptional.
